You Can Make A Difference!

Environmental problems have become so complex that many people feel they can have no effect on them.  Some of the problems can feel out of your control, but there are some things we can all do to help.  With MinnKota Recycling, you can make a difference!  Recycling not only helps the environment, but local charities as well.  When you recycle aluminum cans and sorted paper, proceeds can be donated to charities in our area.  Recycling not only helps the environment, but also helps the community in which we live.  Recyclable items include:

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD

  • YES: corrugated cardboard boxes, brown kraft bags, beverage containers, shoe boxes, cereal and food boxes, chipboard and paperboard. It is helpful to slit the seams and flatten boxes.
  • NO: waxed boxes or boxes that come from the refrigerator or the freezer.

SORTED OFFICE PAPER

  • YES: white or pastel colored bond paper, white typing paper or writing paper, index cards, envelopes, premium bond computer print out paper, legal pad paper, adding machine paper, slick glossy pamphlets, brochures and sorted junk mail.
  • NO: dark tone colors, carbon paper, construction paper, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, phone books, colored tissue paper, gift wrap and food wrappers.

NEWSPAPERS

  • YES: newspapers along with inserts, shoppers and publications printed on newspaper stock. this includes anything delivered in your daily paper.
  • NO: catalogs, junk mail and construction paper.

MAGAZINES

  • YES: magazines and small catalogs with glossy pages.
  • NO: phone books, books, or junk mail.

CLEAR GLASS

  • YES:  clean, clear food and beverage bottles. Please remove and throw away all caps, rings and lids. It is not necessary to remove labels.

BROWN GLASS

  • YES: clean, transparent brown glass bottles, jugs and jars. Please remove and throw away all caps, rings and lids. It is not necessary to remove labels.
  • NO: dirty glass, glass of any other color than brown, other glass objects such as mirrors and ceramics.

ALUMINUM BEVERAGE CANS

  • YES: clean aluminum beverage cans
  • NO:  dirty cans, paint cans, aerosol cans, aluminum foil, pie pans and scrap metal.

STEEL AND TIN CANS

  • YES: clean steel and tin cans
  • NO: dirty cans, paint cans, aerosol cans, aluminum foil, pie pans and scrap metal.

PLASTICS (Please check for recycling symbol on containers.)

YES:  Containers with recycling symbols 1, 2, 4, and 5 are acceptable. clean plastic containers such as soda bottles, milk containers, detergent containers, shampoo bottles, yogurt containers, cottage cheese containers, ice cream pails, or margarine tubs. Please remove and throw away caps, lids, pumps and sprayers.

NO:Containers with recycling symbols 3, 6, and 7 are NOT acceptable. Styrofoam, beverage cups, trays, fast food containers, egg cartons, meat trays, vegetable oil/ motor oil/ antifreeze containers, plastic bags, plastic piping, siding, shower curtains, lawn chairs, swimming pools, and storage tubs.
